A pilot program of the Committee on Medical Education, Philippine League against Epilepsy.

Mission-Vision Statement

To make available to the Filipino people within a radius of one hour bus ride or less from their homes, a doctor who is competent in managing persons with epilepsy at the primary care level.

Epilepsy Manager

  • Know the latest trends in the medical management and alternative management of Epilepsy

  • Know which patients can be treated at the primary care level

  • Know which patients need to be sent to a tertiary care center and be cognizant of which centers these patients can be sent to.

    1. Identify committed local practitioners
      June 2002
      (Meeting with Primary Care Physicians
      June 27,2002,City of San Fernando)


    2. Establish a weekly seizure clinic day
      July 2002

    3. Epilepsy review course
      July 2002(Mimosa Leisure Resort, Angeles City)

    4. Tutorial/Consultation
      Once a month, a CME member will come on Seizure Clinic Day for hands on tutorial and consultation
      10 months from Aug 2002 to May 2003

    5. Establish linkages
      Aug 2002 to May 2003

    6. Program evaluation and measurement
      June to August 2003

    7. Presentation of program outcome and evaluation
      Sept 2003,during the 2nd National Epilepsy Congress
